Ceramic sinks – a kitchen gem

Your Ceramic sink as a workstation

With its sheen, robustness and self-confidence, a Ceramic kitchen sink is rock solid when it comes to family celebrations and everyday use. It withstands stains, dirt and scratches, and even limescale has a hard time sticking.

Whether you’re chopping up fruit together, having a natter, mulling over what you’re going to cook at the weekend or chatting about school, the kitchen is a popular place to gather, talk and happily spend time together. To feel good. When the time comes, the vegetables are quickly cleared away from the sink and the dishes washed. A quick wipe with a soft cloth, and you're done. Any tomato sauce is washed away in an instant. Crumbs are brushed away. That’s how easy things are with a Ceramic sink.

Ceramic:

  • is robust
  • withstands heat and cold
  • retains its radiance throughout its lifespan
  • provides constant resistance
  • repels germs and bacteria
  • is easy to clean and maintain
  • stays just as it is

This makes ceramic the right material for your kitchen sink

Your bathtub is made of it. The sink in your bathroom, too. Crockery is made of this material, and pans are coated with it – ceramic is used in many different places throughout your home. The natural mix of clay and raw materials such as quartz or chamotte, completely covered with minerals, is what makes this material so popular. When hot-fired, this combination develops incredible properties.

Food-safe: ceramic doesn’t pass anything on

Your ceramic sink has a dense surface which means you could leave food in the sink for days & no taste or smell would permeate through. Food products are completely safe left in the sink and won’t leave a stain either

Robust: can cope with all sorts

Oops! A cooking pot slips from your grasp and crashes into the sink bowl. It’s happened to us all. It’s just as well that your Ceramic sink is even more robust than ceramic used for baths. BLANCO Ceramic sinks can withstand everyday impacts. Sink and crockery emerge unscathed. Ceramic sinks are highly robust and thus long-lasting.

hygienic Ceramic sink

Hygienic: sealed and blocked off

Splash. The shell of an egg cracks. Egg white drips into the sink. In the commotion, a fillet of fish on the chopping board follows it. No problem. The surface of the Ceramic sink is repellent. Fired at extremely high temperatures of over 1,200 degrees, the material is compacted during production. It lets nothing in. Bacteria don’t stand a chance of settling and growing on the ceramic. Any acidic fruit juices or food colouring that trickles out won’t harm the sink. No fading, and no lasting stains. Simply rinse off and wipe away. Your Ceramic kitchen sink is clean and sparkling once more.

scratch-proof Ceramic sink

Scratch-proof: impervious to knives

You’re distracted by your child for a moment and the knife slips from the chopping board. Just as well that the ceramic surface is so tough. Nothing happened. There are no scratches to be seen. But do be careful if you're doing some cutting with a ceramic knife! Ceramic knives are so hard themselves that they can damage the sink.

easy-care Ceramic sink

Easy-care: you don’t need much

What if some beetroot juice has dripped into the sink? No problem. It’s easily rectified. A Ceramic sink doesn’t need much maintenance. Spilled juice, droplets of red wine, discarded tea bags – just wipe away any soiling with a soft sponge dipped in a little washing-up liquid. Gently wipe, rinse with clean water and dry with a soft microfibre cloth. Done. Ceramic will retain its shine for decades if you maintain your sink regularly. If you want to play it even safer when it comes to kitchen cleanliness, we can supply your Ceramic sink with the PuraPlus surface. This special coating saves you cleaning time and is even easier to maintain.

heat-resistant Ceramic sink

Heat-resistant and light-fast: ceramic likes it warm

You’ve just taken a freshly baked, delicious-spelling apple pie out of the oven. You glance at the stove. Covered in pots. Where can you set your hot cake tin down? How about the sink? No problem. Your Ceramic sink won't put up a fuss. BLANCO Ceramic sinks can stand temperatures up to 280 degrees so there's no need to worry about setting a hot tin down on your Ceramic sink. It won’t become discoloured. It won't run. And the same applies if you put something frozen on it. You just need to avoid any extreme fluctuations in temperature. Ceramic also likes warming up in direct sunlight. Position your sink directly in front of the window and enjoy the gentle summer warmth that streams in. It won’t fade.

colourful Ceramic sink

A play of colours: a harmonious eye-catching feature

Do you prefer a classic kitchen sink look in white, grey or black? Glossy? Or matte? Would you prefer something softer, in creamy magnolia? Create a colourful contrast in the kitchen with your Ceramic sink. Or opt for a shade that will blend in with your kitchen's overall design concept. The choice is yours! Play with colours. Combine your worktop with the sink in the colour of your choice. You can also get a mixer tap in a matching colour.

A bit of tender loving care for Ceramic

Give your Ceramic sink a little care and it will be with you for a long, long time. The surface of a Ceramic sink is hard, smooth and sealed. Stains cannot penetrate it. Wipe your sink with a little washing-up liquid and a soft cloth every day. Rinse it briefly with clean water and dry with a microfibre cloth. Done. Stains gone.

If you look after your Ceramic sink like this every day, it will long remain an eye-catching feature of your kitchen. It will also make it more difficult for limescale to build up. However, this can happen over time. You can get rid of limescale with BLANCO Antikalk or diluted vinegar concentrate.

Scouring powder, scrubbing cream and steel brushes are bound to help too, right? Absolutely not! Aggressive cleaners damage the surface of your Ceramic sink, so avoid at all costs.

Are you struggling with stubborn limescale? Or have you noticed black streaks? Sometimes pots or cutlery can leave these kinds of metal abrasion stripes in the sink. BLANCO CeraCare – our biological cleaning agent for Ceramic sinks – helps to get your sink back to its usual radiant self.

To make sure that your Ceramic sink carries on looking good for as long as possible,

  • Wipe it down every day with a microfibre cloth.
  • Treat it to a deep clean at regular intervals.
  • Freshen up the PuraPlus coating from time to time with the BLANCO PuraPlus Liquid Set.

Utterly simple. Long-lasting beauty.

Corner kitchen sink bowls, small bowls, large drainers or two bowls without a drainer – BLANCO Ceramic sinks fit perfectly into big and small kitchens alike. Just what you’re looking for.

More about ceramic sinks

What is ceramic actually made of?
Why is it so resistant?

Ceramic consists primarily of clay. If you mix this natural, highly malleable material with other raw materials to make it sturdy, you have the basis for ceramics.

BLANCO is constantly checking the precise composition and production process for this material. In every case, the composition and each individual production stage are examined, and improved if necessary. We're always looking to get even better and aim for the highest standards of quality. After all, we’re only satisfied when you are.

Fired to optimum effect

Ceramic is a mixture of clay and various minerals. Clay is soft and pliable. This raw material gives your kitchen sink the right shape. Other raw materials and minerals ensure that your sink dries properly and retains its look. The whole thing is then covered in a glaze made of minerals such as quartz or feldspar which makes your Ceramic sink glossy and, above all, robust and resistant. The firing process is a science in itself. How hot, how long, how often? We are constantly asking ourselves these questions in our quest for your perfect Ceramic sink. After all, it is firing that gives ceramic its unique properties and sturdiness.

As it happens, your sink is larger at our factory than it is when you receive it. How? Does it shrink? Yes, it contracts a little. It loses a great deal of water, and thus something of its form and capacity. We also conduct ongoing tests in this area, so that you are happy and satisfied with your sink.
