BLANCO’s efforts for the protection of the environment go far beyond developing innovations like our SOLON™ compost system or water-saving products like our HYDRA™ faucet. We believe that our overall focus must be sustainable, practical and intensive.
To achieve this goal, we have embarked several initiatives like harnessing solar energy for our logistics center in Bruschal, Germany. The building features over 3,600 solar panels that create environmentally friendly and sustainable electricity, which will relieve the atmosphere of more than 600 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions every year! According to American Forests, sequestering one metric ton of CO2 equals about 3.6 trees planted per year which for BLANCO equals 2,160 trees planted! The investment in this new photovoltaic system is part of BLANCO’s extensive sustainability program.
We have also invested in a combined new heat and power plant in Sulzfeld, Germany, which produces eco-friendly/green energy and heat and contributes to reducing CO2 emissions by 370,000 kilograms per year. This is equalivent to removing 14,245 Toyota Camry’s off the road each year! The energy and heat are generated on-site by a natural gas combustion engine. Contrary to large power plants, the heat generated by the installation is used in the plant for central heating and sink cleaning instead of being expelled into the atmosphere.
The plant has a yearly production of over 1 Million sinks.

This installation is particularly aimed at serving Sulzfeld’s needs in energy although energy efficiency measures are taken across all plants.”
