There is nothing we love more than seeing BLANCO products come together in beautifully designed kitchens, especially when those kitchens are featured on fun television shows like HGTV’s House Hunters! Designer Erica Evensen of Evensen Design recently worked with a couple from Austin, Texas to create the perfect kitchen complete with a BLANCO CERANA™ Apron Front sink. We caught up with Erica to talk to her about what it was like working with the Texas couple to create their dream home in the interview below.

Q: What was the inspiration behind this gorgeous kitchen design?

A: The goal for this project was to design a ‘chef friendly,’ open kitchen with Southern charm and industrial accents.  We were inspired by the Texas Hill Country and turn of the century homes that incorporate reclaimed wood, painted siding and layered materials such as brass and iron.

Q: What was the most challenging part of designing and renovating the space?

A: The most challenging part of this renovation was creating an open layout in such a tight space.  By eliminating an angled pantry and awkward peninsula, we were able to redesign the entire layout.  The new U-shape kitchen now includes an island, full height cabinets with generous storage and a gorgeous apron front sink.

Q: How did BLANCO help bring your design vision to life?

A: The BLANCO CERANA™ apron front sink is the perfect addition to the space!  It added Southern Charm and created a beautiful focal point in the kitchen.  The sink is centered under the only window, where we installed white subway tile up to the ceiling.  This combination of materials creates a bright and sunny moment in what used to be a dark corner of the kitchen.  The large single bowl is also perfect for a couple who loves to cook.

Q: What is your favorite thing about this design?

A: My favorite thing about the design is the combination of materials, lighting and fixtures that brought our client’s tastes together.  I love how the Pecan Island top, bright subway tile, white farmhouse sink and the industrial light fixtures all come together to create an open, charming and eclectic kitchen.
