The holidays are here and with that comes family, fun and of course, food! The easiest way to entertain during the holiday season is to have a list of go to appetizers that you know are delicious, but oh so easy to prepare. There are so many fun occasions for food and friends during the holidays and my favorite way to serve a meal is with a lot of appetizers. It is casual, fun and allows for a lot of mingling and spending time with loved ones!
These Cheddar Bacon Garlic Crostinis are the perfect go to appetizer because you can make them ahead of time and assemble right before your guests arrive. No one wants to be attached to their stove as the guests arrive and this easy appetizer recipe will definitely be a crowd pleaser. Come on, who doesn’t love cheese, bacon and bread?! This recipe is truly the perfect combination of food in an appetizer form.
I love bread based appetizers because they are portable and easy for guests to munch on while mingling; you don’t even need a plate to eat these delicious crostinis! Everyone loves a great dip and by serving it on toasted bread you can easily elevate this dip from a tailgate favorite to a recipe worth for holiday entertaining.
To make things even easier on myself, I love to do double duty with my kitchenware. This beautiful BLANCO QUATRUS™ Ash Compound Cutting Board serves as both a kitchen tool and a beautiful serving piece. I assembled all my ingredients on the board and also used it to display my finished crostini. It makes for a great presentation and also makes clean up easy!
This Cheddar Bacon Garlic Crostini is the perfect easy appetizer to serve again and again this holiday season. You and your guests will love the flavors of this delicious dip served on toasted garlic bread!
Cheddar Bacon Garlic Crostini
1 baguette, sliced in 3/4 inch slices
3 heaping tbsp mayonnaise
4 oz. cream cheese, softened
1 cup of shredded mild cheddar cheese (shred it yourself, do not buy the pre-shredded)
8 slices of bacon, cooked crisp and then crumbled
4 green onions, diced into small pieces
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp. seasoned salt
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
a pinch of pepper
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce, cheddar cheese, green onions and bacon. Stir well to combine. Add seasoned salt, garlic powder and pepper and stir again. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
When ready to serve, preheat oven to 400 degrees. Place bread slices on a baking sheet. In a small sauce pan, add olive oil and garlic. Cook over low heat until garlic is fragrant. Brush garlic oil onto the tops of each slice of bread. Place in the oven and cook for 3-4 minutes, or until bread is golden brown.
Remove bread from the oven and place on your cutting board. Spread a heaping tablespoon of dip mixture onto each bread piece. Garnish with additional onions, cheese, and bacon. Serve immediately.
