Color is everywhere – in our homes, offices, cars, clothes and the surrounding natural world. Whether you are aware of it or not, each color affects us on a deeper, subconscious level. Transcending beyond the name or number of a specific hue, colors tell a story and connect with us beyond the visual senses. BLANCO recently surveyed top architects and designers to uncover current and future trends in color, especially in the kitchen.
Artists and interior designs have long believed that color can dramatically affect feelings, moods and emotions. Color is a powerful communication tool and this notion is expressed within colors in the home. According to verywellminded.com, reactions to color can be subjective, but generally, certain types of colors produce particular responses. Warm colors tend to be associated with warmth and comfort, while cool colors tend be calming. Grays are reported to be the “productive color” and are often found in offices and workplaces. But what about the home? What colors are most common in the kitchen?
Neutral, Transitional, Clean
When it comes to choosing a color for your kitchen, neutrals tend to win the game. Lately, grays and whites have been the most popular colors in new renovations. According to about 67% of those surveyed, gray and white kitchens are the dominating kitchen designs this year. Not only do they see the gray and white trend in paint choice and cabinetry, but these smart neutrals populate the sink area, as well.
64% of those surveyed found that the most popular sink specified in 2018 was stainless. However, 54% of those anticipate the sink trend is moving towards color – neutrals that are in the white and gray category. Homeowners are looking for a timeless and transitional kitchen design that makes a statement and portrays personality and emotions.
The gray trend is very timely considering BLANCO’s brand-new SILGRANIT® sink color, Concrete Gray. Clean, organic and extremely balanced, Concrete Gray is at home in both urban and natural settings. Its revolutionary warm red and cool blue undertones make it BLANCO’s most versatile color yet. Right on trend, Concrete Gray is the perfect fit with a wide array of countertop and cabinet designs.
