If the kitchen is truly the heart of the home, then it should be the last place to compromise on design. This is the message that BLANCO, the German manufacturer of luxury sinks and faucets, is sending loud and clear with the release of two new innovative additions to its product line; an apartment sized version of the IKON® apron front farmhouse sink and Concrete Gray, a versatile new color option for its
One of BLANCO’s greatest strengths is its expertise in understanding how social, lifestyle, and industry trends translate into design solutions. This is especially important in kitchen spaces which tend to be costly and labor intensive to install or renovate. “If you’re planning a kitchen, then it’s a real investment,” says BLANCO’s head of design Brigitte Ziemann. “So it’s important that our products have longevity and visual validity so that they can survive a time span of 15 to 20 years.” The solution is SILGRANIT®, BLANCO’s patented granite composite material that is scratch, stain, and heat resistant. The easy-to-maintain material is widely considered one of the most durable on the market, a testament to the company’s experience as a leader in granite composite sinks for over three decades.
Released in 2016, IKON® was the first farmhouse sink made from SILGRANIT®; with 30 and 33 inch options it was however never quite suitable for urban sized kitchens. With the introduction of a new 27 inch single bowl, BLANCO is finally making the style accessible for apartment dwellers. Priced at $1,195, the compact sink is available in nine hues: White, Anthracite, Metallic Gray, Café Brown, Biscuit, Biscotti, Truffle, Cinder and the sleek and versatile Concrete Gray.
To develop a color that would provide the greatest degree of adaptability for today’s kitchen designs, BLANCO took a close look at color trends. “We spend countless hours analyzing color trends to find timeless neutrals that offer a fresh, sophisticated look, seamlessly blending in in a way that is practical, yet inspirational,” says Tim Maicher, Marketing Director for BLANCO. A survey of architects and designers revealed an overwhelming preference for grays and neutrals along with the minimalist profiles of contemporary and transitional styles. With a balance of warm red and cool blue undertones combined with darker speckles, Concrete Gray evokes the natural, raw appearance of concrete, enabling it to adapt to almost any modern kitchen scheme. Rounding out the release is the launch of the SILGRANIT® Color App, a tool to help clients visualize and evaluate the sinks in combination with different countertop options. The app will enable homeowners, designers, and fabricators to easily generate renderings from photos of their chosen materials.
Since its founding in 1925, BLANCO has steadily built its reputation on the care, quality, and innovation it puts into its products. With the release of the IKON® 27” and Concrete Gray, the company is pushing the boundaries of color and materials while raising the standards for the entire industry.
