Three new products developed for the kitchen water place have now been awarded the coveted Red Dot Product Design Award. The award was given to the SILGRANIT sink range BLANCO ADIRA, the high-end BLANCO CHOICE.All system with the BLANCO ICONA mixer tap for refined water in a wide range of treatment types, and the outstanding bowl material Dark Steel. Once again, these awards highlight the holistic system approach that is characteristic of BLANCO: "These awardwinning products share a consistent design language that is visually impressive, while at the same time they noticeably enhance everyday life in the kitchen with innovative details. The products, which are available in different versions, can also be used to create a wide range of individually assembled BLANCO UNITs for a high-quality kitchen water place tailored to customer needs," explains Marcel Moritz, Director/Head of Design & Innovation. “We are all delighted about the three awards, as they recognise our uncompromising commitment to creating long-lasting, useful products for the BLANCO UNIT that inspire their users.”
Red Dot Product Design Award for: BLANCO ADIRA sink range
The new BLANCO ADIRA sink range boasts a timeless design, spacious bowl, practical accessories – and visual appeal. One standout feature is the striking, internally bevelled edges, precisely matched to the geometry of the accessories. The BLANCO ADIRA echoes the distinctive design features of other products, allowing them to be seamlessly combined with the sink, such as the multifunctional colander for smart hanging in the bowl or in the BLANCO base cabinet systems. Other accessories complement the sink range, made of resistant and easy-care Silgranit: the included ADIRA folding mat helps to optimise work flows as required – as an additional work surface above the bowl, as a (foldable) grid drainer or as a tray to protect the sink or worktop. With its ingenious concept and functional details, ADIRA not only makes the best possible use of the kitchen water place, but also ensures real freedom when planning your kitchen, with its eight contemporary colours and a total of six versions.
Red Dot Product Design Award for: BLANCO CHOICE.All Icona
In addition to normal tap water, the high-end BLANCO CHOICE Icona mixer tap offers water enjoyment to suit your taste. The sophisticated product concept for maximum user convenience is reflected in the balanced design and intuitive use. This high-quality mixer tap features a curved, flexible hose with an elegant stainless steel spring sheath and sophisticated magnetic holder for dispensing normal tap water. A separate horizontal outlet offers drinking water of your choice. It is operated using rotary wheels for preset preferences such as the amount and type of water, and a touch sensor for activating the water flow. A discreet LED ring visually displays the water type. Four elegant colours – brushed stainless steel, matt black, satin gold and satin dark steel – enable the mixer tap to be precisely coordinated with the other modules of the BLANCO UNIT to create a high-quality kitchen water place that is also a gourmet water bar. CHOICE Icona demonstrates its full strength and versatility as a 6-in-1 water system in combination with the CHOICE.All water treatment unit in the base cabinet. So compact in format, so versatile in their possibilities. At the touch of a button, the mixer tap delivers high-quality filtered water, cooled and still, medium sparkling or fully sparkling, or boiling hot water at the touch of a button. Red Dot Product Design Award for: Dark Steel
With decades of expertise in processing classic materials, material specialist BLANCO has repeatedly shown that stainless steel can be refined to create a completely new look and feel, most recently with the double-award-winning Durinox. Through a process used in aerospace technology, further developed and patented by BLANCO, Durinox creates a resilient, scratch-resistant surface that is more than twice as hard and boasting a velvety matt texture. BLANCO has now implemented these unique properties, which can be achieved without any coating, in an exclusive anthracite colour, which has been awarded the Product Design Award: Dark Steel. There are currently two models in Dark Steel for different installation types in the range. With its narrow corner radii and extra-deep bowl, the unique material properties of Dark Steel have striking visual appeal. The products can be combined with stainless steel mixer taps in a light or dark look to create striking and exquisitely designed premium BLANCO UNIT system solutions for the kitchen water place. “We are especially pleased to have been awarded this honour for Dark Steel because the jury explicitly chose the material for its innovative strength,” says Dr Philipp Hunger, Managing Director/Head of Global R&D.

The Red Dot Award is a design competition that awards annually in three disciplines and different categories. Today, the Red Dot is considered an international seal of quality for outstanding design. The competition’s roots go back to 1954. The submitted products are reviewed and evaluated by an international jury of experts. The awardwinning products will be exhibited at the Design Museum Essen from the end of May to the end of June.
