From stainless steel to granite sinks made of Silgranit: specialised locations pool expertise and ensure consistent quality worldwide

For decades, BLANCO has helped shape the development of the kitchen water place. The company draws on extensive expertise in developing and processing materials for kitchen sinks. BLANCO brings together research, development, design and production in an integrated approach, laying the foundations for innovative materials, high-quality surfaces and durable solutions in which the materials, colours and functions of all components are carefully coordinated.
In-house material development
BLANCO’s global production network enables specialisation while ensuring consistently high standards in manufacturing. Its four locations in Europe and North America are organised as competence centers, each with a clearly defined technological focus along the value chain.
Pioneering work in stainless steel and composite materials
Stainless steel processing in Sulzfeld, Baden-Württemberg, is one of the key pillars of this expertise. BLANCO has been producing stainless steel sinks there since the early 1950s, continuously advancing its manufacturing technologies. From material forming and refinement to surface finishing and final production, the site brings together key stages of the value chain and makes a significant contribution to the ongoing development of the kitchen water place. Its technological milestones include the innovative, patented Durinox material.
The material and manufacturing expertise built up at the site continues to inform not only the development of bowls and sinks, but also the coordination of materials and design across other modules for the kitchen water place.
In 1981, BLANCO became the first company in the industry to market coloured sinks made from composite material Silacron. This step opened up new possibilities in both design and functionality.
The company’s technological centre for composite materials is its Sinsheim site in Baden-Württemberg. It is also home to material research and development teams as well as the production of Silgranit and Velgranit sink bowls. New raw materials are qualified in Sinsheim, material properties are analysed and tested, and manufacturing processes are continuously refined.
The Sinsheim competence center is complemented by Silgranit production sites in Most (Czech Republic) and Toronto (Canada).
Material expertise for a holistically planned kitchen water place
The close integration of these locations enables a continuous transfer of knowledge and technology. Insights from research, material development and industrial production flow directly into product development. The result is a range of materials and surfaces that has helped advance the kitchen water place in both functional and design terms for decades. At the same time, they provide the foundation for the harmonious interplay of all kitchen water place components, from bowls and taps to drink.systems and base cabinet organisation.
