“Inspiration is always rooted in Sensible Style, which is based on how the person will use the space,” states San Diego-based kitchen designer Jamie Gold CKD, CAPS, author of the highly regarded blog Gold Notes and the recent popular book Kitchen Ideas That Work (Taunton).
Gold believes it’s not an individual decision, but rather a household one when designing a kitchen.
“How everyone in the household will use the space and having it work for how they really live, not how someone in a magazine or television show will use the space,” says Gold.
It’s all about choices.
The choices you make need to support how you live. “Whether it’s a low maintenance counter top, faucets that give you more functionality or clean up centers that are more usable and efficient,” states Gold “All of these go into the decisions you make that work for the home.”
